HP laptop - Bright Spot on Screen

Thread Starter
Hey ppl,

My wife has got a little issue with her laptop.

A bright little spot has appeared on her laptop screen, I moved the mouse under it to see if it's a dead pixel but everything under it still show, just 4x brighter then the rest of the screen.

Other possible useful info; She's got her screen on a dimmed mode, nothing has hit it or damaged it ever.

Her laptop: HP G72-110SW

Any help would be appreciated.

What happens when you maximize the brightness? (I.e., does the brightness even out?) It sounds like part of the backlight isn't responding to the brightness settings, if that's possible. tongue.gif Either way, my initial thought is that it's going to need some repair.

Edit: How big is this spot?

Also, I don't know if this comment is true or not, but it's something I found while Googling:
Quote:
This phenomenon is the led bulbs showing through the matrix of the lcd screen. My m1330 (refurb) has about 15 of them and if you look really closely, you can see alot of bulbs through the screen. Dell is sending someone this saturday to replace my screen, hopefully, it will not suffer the same led bulb show through problem.

i think that these show up in the 'burn in' phase of a new led screen and can form later on. I know that leds don't emit much heat, but it seems a 'thinning' of the matrix thereby exposing the led through the screen is taking place.
