Need help with my next purchase...

Hey guys, im getting everything together for my first build. Here are the specs so far:

-i5-2500K (Overclocked to at least 4.2 GHz)
-Platinium 550W PSU
-MSI GD 65 Mobo
- 1 tb hd
- 32gb SSD (maybe)
- sound card dont know yet
- EVGA GTX 560ti SC

Now in regards to the card, i was recommended that 560ti by a guy at Frys, im looking for some input. It is a gaming rig. All i play is FPS and Starcraft 2. What card would be the best for this type of gaming ? Trying to build something that will last me a pretty long time.

What kind of Resolution do you play at? That's the big question really for GPUs. Also, are you planning to stick to the stock intel cooler? Wouldn't reccomend OC'ing on that at all, Grab something good such aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas...

Easily push up to 4.5GHz~, depends on your chip though. For futureproofing, Go for a branded decent watted PSU like Corsair, OCZ, Coolermaster etc.

Err, Your Mobo comes up as AM3 chipset.. That's AMD processors, not Intel.. You need a P67 Chipset -

Awaiting your reply, Mate.

I really dont know in regards to the resolution. I dont know what Starcraft 2's max resolution is, but i want the games to look AMAZING on that monitor.

I am going to have a better CPU cooler than stock, now in regards to the MSI, is that not a good motherboard ?
That's a great motherboard. I would bet you could achieve 4.2ghz on the stock cooler. I would recommend a 212+ from CM if you want a cheap and effective cooler for your processor.

My bad, I was looking at the wrong Mobo. *Facepalm* Stupid MSI using an AM3 AND a P67 under the same 'GD65' tag. Yes, that Mobo's a great one as Champion said.

What size is the monitor? It's hard to assist without it, but a 560Ti should be sufficient, maybe a 570 if you're feeling a bit richer.

KINGWIN Lazer Platinum 550w ?

Looks good, though why a 32gb ssd? If you want to install your OS, and a few games i would recommend a minimum of 60GB. The biggest benefit of an SSD is putting you OS on it.

As for sound you can't go wrong with one of the Asus Xonar cards

That monitor would be ample for you - 1920 x 1080 (Probably the most used for gameplay, Looks but not too much performance drain) and a 16:9 Aspect ratio.

http://techreport.com/articles.x/20293/9

That gives you some indication, the test PC had the i7 980X though, the 6 core silly priced dream processor, but it won't affect the test THAT much, bearing in mind your res will be lower, and your rig will correspond in that downscaling.

Like I say, GPU power counts, if you can, grab a 570. Maybe even a 580, but.. You'll do with what you've got!
