I hate how all of these devs want to "streamline" everything...
Yup. I want my old HUD/menu back.

Says who..? Seems pretty good at least for now from what I see.

@spunk: I thought one of the developer interviews came to the conclusion that the GUI in skyrim is much more like morrwind than oblivion.

The Dev's (talking about Todd Howard specifically) said he preferred playing Skyrim on the PC to the 360. They just are trying to make things more smooth instead of menu this menu that look another menu is this EVE now? I was outraged at first when they said it was being developed for console first, but after seeing how they still prefer PC themselves and some of the adjustments I have hope the menus won't break the stock game. Plus if you don't like them, MOD THEM! Still buying it either way, love all their TES games.

And for reference, I have bought Oblivion 3 times (Xbox, retail disc before steam had it, steam) Morrowind 3 times (same 3 as Oblivion) and Skyrim will be a one timer as I will not be going from console to PC EVER AGAIN.
Second. I wouldn't mind the map, but I really want it on steam.

What exactly are you seeing? Graphics? That's all they have showed. There was an article in our video game news section that even had a statement from a developer that the game was focused more around consoles and Oblivion. Again, to each their own... but I want something that's difficult and complex, not just another EA-Bioware red-headed stepchild.

The developers have stated they got rid of the clunky GUI on the PC as well, we'll have to see if they meant it.

The graphics, I didn't even consider in that post. All I've seen is xbox 360 graphics from that 40 presentation (obviously 360 for that presentation because KB+M would have been awkward to use while standing)

Can you give me specifics as to what they said? How it was focused more towards consoles? The only article I have seen even remotely that was about the console versions looking almost as good as the PC version, which is against what the devs have said multiple times after. So... Care to elaborate? I'm interested.

Yeah, I'll see if I can dig up the few articles that focused on console vs. PC. Because if I can remember correctly, it was rather disappointing. Hopefully I'm wrong, because I would love to get a great Elder Scrolls game again.
