What are you using it for? They pretty much are neck and neck. If you are gaming I would probably go for the 955.

You can't really overclock a Sandy Bridge i3. Gotta get the i5 2500k or i7 2600k for Sandy Bridge overclocking.

You can overclock the Phenom II. At stock the i3 is faster for gaming though (much better IPC and single-threaded performance).

How do they overclock well? They have a locked multiplier and you cant really mess with the bclk. Are the i3 sandys different from the i5s and i7s?

It depends on the game, once more games use more than 2 cores which newers ones are, the 955 should come out on top but not by much. Its a tough choice though. I would say the amd motherboard is better than the intel board though. With everything else, the 2100 does come out on top, even compared to the PhII 970, so if you dont plan to overclock then I would probably get the 2100.

gaming i would go for the quad. All new games take advantage of it so it will have the edge on the dual core.

If you are converting videos, the 955 provides better multithreading power for doing so.
