Definately go with Phenom IIX4 955 BE. It's 3.2 Ghz vs. 3.1 to start off with. The Phenom has bigger and better L2 and L3 caches and doesn't come with integrated graphics (unless you want integrated graphics but I read on another of your posts that you're looking at proper graphics cards?). The only plus statistically that the i3 has is it's smaller form at 32nm which subsequently requires less power, 65W. The Phenom is 45nm and is a 125W. Depending on your cooling and power restrictions based on whatever psu you will be using that is the only drawback when looking at the Phenom. Plus it's a Black Edition so you can up the multiplier for OCing. Go Phenom

You do understand that it takes an X4 at 4ghz to equal a 3.1 ghz 2100 right?
