[TS] Puget dissects vertical vs. horizontal chassis cooling - Page 5

There's already some cases like the FT02 but in the vertical orientation so I would say they're close to equal. It's just that the FT02 has the AP181s so...

But where does the air that's drawn over the HDDs go? I'm assuming right over other components.

Why would you assume that? I read your post, the least you could do would be to read mine. I get the feeling you're taking the path of least resistance and just assuming rather than asking or using logic.

It was rhetorical really because I specifically Googled your case. The air drawn over your HDDs goes straight over everything else in the case.

It was more a way to have you openly affirm what I was saying rather than actually asking you.

So you think I just happened to read only that one sentence, quote your post, and then cut out everything else, again not reading any of it?

The stock configuration puts one of the hard drive cages at the bottom 5.25 drive bays. If I had my 5 hard drives in the stock configuration I wouldn't claim that they're out of the way (at least not all of them). If you want I can send you a photo of what it looks like.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here in respect to what I was talking about.

The point is any air going into that case and over the drives will be going over other components before it is expelled. Seems simple to me, unless there's just something I'm failing to understand.

And before you accuse me of not "using logic" again, it has more to do with your wording than my comprehension if I'm indeed not understanding what you're saying.

You're failing to understand that I just said I'm not using the stock configuration that has the hard drive cage in front of the motherboard. The air that goes over the hard drives is expelled out the top and top rear.

So you have 5 HDDs in the very top-front of the case, and a fan fits in front of them?

If so, where is your fan controller, optical drive, and whatever else? That would easily drive down into the path of linear air flow.

The top 5 drive bays are safe. I have triple 120 intake, one of which is part of the front hard drive cage the other two are completely unobstructed and are directed at the motherboard components. If you have less than 4 hard drives you can take out the front hard drive bay entirely and use all of that space for other stuff and make the top fan intake.

The 90 degree rotation looks really cool though

It's saddening it doesn't make much of a difference
