It's a rumor. If socket 2011 gets an 8 core then 1155 will get a 6 core

You have a 2600k, and your eager to upgrade? Wait until the actual chips come out to see how they perform, you may very well find the price to upgrade isn't worth the performance.

Not necessarily. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a Xeon that had 8 cores. They had 8 cores on a Westmere Xeon so I don't know why they wouldn't do the same for LGA2011.
