actually bleeding the loop is easy, thats why Martin suggested the top inlet set up. I don't even need a syringe to get the air out. I don't like the small res because I don't want to chance the pump run dry why I am adding water to the fill port. But if I had a bigger res I could add more water before I powered on the pump as well as power down before it ran dry easier. Anyway, I think this thread has run its course, I am sure you meant well.

You just want a bigger res for more volume? Get a male to male G1/4 fitting.

Anyways, the pumps can run dry intermittently for 20-40secs.
