Apples patents and lawsuits are extremely ridiculous and abusive.
Well if you were in Apple's shoes, would you not patent things in the exact same way? If not, I wouldn't ever invest in your company because you'd be an abysmal failure.

Let's just keep in mind that Apple isn't the only major brand slinging around subpoenas here. I think a lot of you all are forgetting that. I said in this thread earlier, Moto sued Apple FIRST. You guys have selective reading or you just flat out think it's okay for Apple to be sued and not the other way around.

I'm not sure I'd patent shapes. The problem is not that they're suing people, the problem is that the patents they are using are absolutely absurd. You seem to be ignoring that key factor.

Accusing of flat reading and such isn't going to make your argument any stronger. I've read the thread and I know that moto sued apple first. What I'm saying (please do not flat read my posts) is that they are patenting generic things. Like I said, cars have generic looks, so do TVs, so do house hold appliances.

Different people invest into companies for different reasons. I for one want to see technology evolve unstifled and thus will not invest in apple

But suing someone for something as generic as a tablet design? I mean, a tablet is a tablet. You can really change the design that much. So now suddenly Apple has the patent on all tablets, and is free to bar their sales? The patents that Apple sues for (and wins sometimes) are just absolutely ridiculous. Look at their one where they sued HTC for the unlock screen.

I'm not ignoring anything. I'm not the one that awards patents. The American and European government agencies are the ones that award them. Judges decide what's applicable. It's the law that's the problem, not Apple. Not Motorola, not Samsung. You all are blindly directing your hate at Apple for no good reason. It's not Apple that's banning the sale of the Tab 10.1 in Europe...They don't have that kind of authority. Looks at things in perspective.

ok i agree that its down to the system but this kind of thing doent happen with any other company or industory under the same system because they are clearly choosing not to abuse and compete in the market. The reason why most are angry is becuase apple and other mentioned companies aernt showing enough mutual respect or innovation and abusing the patent system instead of focusing on making great products.

Apple could have thought "hmm, by suing Samsung, we could end up restricting the development of future technology" (ok, it's a reach, but I think you get the point). Apple also did ask for the injunction. So yes, by their direct actions they banned it.

Apple could take a step back (as well as many other companies) and think what they're doing before suing companies for stupid patents.

Also. How long until chipmakers start suing each other for shape of heatspreader?

Yeah. That's right.
