Expensive build...possible? - Page 5

Everyone has already given you good advice. I say if you have the money go all out, I know I would.

The one extra thing I would suggest is since this is your first build and it's an expensive one, find some one with a lot of experience to put it together for you. Hell have them teach you as they do it so you become familiarized with all the parts. Most of the people on these forums can put a computer together with their eyes closed. However, when you're just starting out it can be daunting and a little mistake could possibly set you back.

Tri-SLI 580's? I know price isn't a problem for this guy, but seriously, it's bottle-necking itself with like two of them beasts in a rig. The added 1fps for a third card is really not worth it, this is not an opinion, this is a fact.

Counter Strike eh? Deffinately don't need a 580 x 2 or a 6990 to run that at ultimate n00b crushing speeds. That's as silly as my mate who bought a 6990 because it was 'expensive, and I wanted Terraria to run faster.'

EDIT: Maybe when you guys tell him what to get, explain to him what his benefits will be over the other choice.

Dear sir, I was browsing the web for my own good on Computer Architecture (as myself is going to be building his first build in a few months time) and I found a link to an entire book, that's been published by the author to the internet for all. Free of charge. Download the PDF file and read through as much as you can, from reading a few pages of it (even though i'm familiar to what it's talking about) I reckon it would make excellent reading. You will learn plenty from it, and knowledge is power.

So when you are running your Counter Strike at full settings and 100000+ fps, you will be able to tell your friends WHY it is happening and HOW.

Good luck.
