Fresh install of Windows, black screen after installing NVIDIA drivers

Thread Starter
Long story short, my SSD (boot disk) became full with crap, and I decided to reinstall Windows. Upon installing the 266.58 drivers, I ran into an error when loading Windows, I would get a black screen after the splash screen. I've tried multiple driver versions, and nothing has helped so far.

I realize this may be a problem with the HD Audio part of the NVIDIA drivers, but I want that feature to push audio from my computer through my TV using my 460's. Is there any sort of alternate solution to this?

EDIT: Even after uninstalling the HD Audio, I'm still getting a black screen.

Just a left field thought... did you load up your mobo's drivers during the installation process?

I think I had a similar problem as you, I would get black screens if Sli was enabled though it would work fine if sli was disabled. This is the solution I found and it worked perfectly, I'm not sure about the final resolution change but I didn't want to chance it:

1. Uninstall the existing Drivers, Shutdown.
2. Take out the GFX card in the secondary slot.
3. Reboot with one card, Install Drivers, Shutdown.
4. Put in the Second GFX card again, reattach SLI Bridge.
5. Reboot, wait about 2 mins for windows to install drivers for second GFX card.
6. Go to Nvidia control panel, and change the resolution to 1024x768.
7. Enabl SLI within Nvidia control panel.
8. Change back to desired resolution.
