How much do i really need

Thread Starter
First off i know the whole system needs updated. Going to be working on that over the next few months. The main game i play is WOW at 1920 x 1080. I want to play at max settings. I know WOW isn't Crysis 2, so how much card do i really need. I would be willing to spend up to $375 or so but would that be overkill.

Also for the 600t case would i be best with a reference cooler that exhausts out the back or a non reference that exhausts in the case. Plan for cpu cooling will be the H100 or a rasa kit.

Even GTX260 / 5700 would bottleneck on that system, I would go for a GTX 460 and save the rest on cooling the CPU so you can push it to try and limit the bottleneck. If you get a reference card, you stand more chance of getting a cheap WC setup.

A Rasa kit would be a good decision. As the pump and 360 rad can handle the gpu block

I realize that right now there is a bottle neck, but the plan is to move to a 2500k as soon as i can. I guess what i am looking at is at that point how much card do i need. Is it worth it to get a gtx 570 for WOW or is that overkill and a 560 ti would be better. Trying to figure out how much to budget for the video card.

The GTX 570 is faster than the 560 ti stock..and if you overclock the 570 you should get even faster speeds than a overclocked 560 ti.

I'd look at getting this one from MSI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127564

With my experience so far using the gpu in my sig rig, MSI owns with their design and overclockability, and its in your price range.

If you have the money, you can get a 570 which can be overclocked to 580 speeds, as the one I am currently using.

I suggest you look into some BIOS updates, then check the CPU compatibility list for your board. a Q6600 will 99.999999% be sure to work on it, and I'm sure a Q9xxx series should as well, but check the aforementioned list.

All the guy wants to know is what nvidia card he need to play wow at settings using a 2500k when he upgrades. I say if you got the money get 570 when you go out on raids it will need the power.

I don't think you even need higher than a 460 for WOW alone, and that card is a very good price/performance for many other games as well.

WOW is mostly CPU dependent, so I would be sure not to cheap out on that first. But for the GPU I'd go with what I said in my first post in this thread.

The MSI TFII 570 is a bad choice for a 570, it has the same weak VRM design as the reference card, because it is pretty much the reference PCB. Good options for a 570 would be the MSI TFIII PE/OC 570 or the Asus DCII 570. But I stand by the fact that those are both much more than he needs for WoW and don't offer anywhere near the performance/$ that a 460 does.
