Age of Conan is quite good. I'd never hesitate to recommend it.

SW: TOR is good too, when it comes out.

Allods imo is the best F2P on your list. A couple not on your list you should check out are Perfect world and Runes of Magic. Both very good F2P games. There is nothing on the market atm that I would pay for given what is free.

Edit: Just noticed Runes of Magic was up there. I would go for that.

I was an EQ addict for about 7 years or so. Tried WoW, I quit with Cata came out. Though, I have put some thought into going back. Leveling 3 toons from 80 to 85 just seems like a pain though, giving how long it took to level and gear them o.o Not to mention looking at some of the new gear, some regular drops compete with my ICC25 gear on my 80's. I've heard very good things about Rift, and a few about RoM.

Planetside.

No quests. No NPCs. No rare loot. No leveling up and becoming more powerful.

Just well-balanced PvP on a massive scale.

I remember Planetside, the game was pretty fun. Playing it on dial-up was not.

I've played multiple mmo's and how much fun you have is totally dependent on who you play with. So pick the mmo your friends play or has a cool community you can get into. I was able to find a wow guild via guys I played Left 4 Dead 2 with for instance.

So the actual game you play isn't the most critical factor, that said I recommend wow because it has a huge community, great content and great support.

You haven't even really played world of warcraft for instance until you've gotten into a good guild and started hitting the endgame raids. This is where the best content is.

Playing an mmo by yourself is borrrrrinnnng.

Sad that you didn't enjoy LOTRO that much. Of all the games, I liked its graphics the most and never had any clipping or other such issues as you did.

age of conan was really fun when it first came out and became really good to play after a few months. Then they switched game developers and director, game became crap. So I wouldn't recommend it.
