I did watch the video, they explained that they're working on it, and they believe those issues will be solved. All I'm saying is that I have yet to see them working in a video so for now I'll remain skeptical until I see those things or they at least explain how they managed to solve those issues (which will likely not happen anytime soon).

This.

He didn't so much prove that those things worked. All he said was "Yeah, we know people have problems with it, we are working on it and our intentions are to make it work. Also, we have high-profile people who say it works and investors so, nyeh."

He never gave a real explanation as to how they plan to solve those problems.

It seems like this tech will be very memory intensive since it'll need to store a ton of point data. But maybe in 10 years it'll be viable, video cards will probably have 512GB of ram by then.

Go watch the video.

He gives a demonstration of what they have currently on a mobile i7 and 8GB of RAM without using the power of the GPU other than to push the pixels to the monitor.

Like has been said though, the objects had limited rotation intervals and were heavily repeated.

Why does everyone feel so entitled to a view into this company's workflow and design? No other development company is going to start posting candid videos of how they're working during their alpha stage.

Give them a chance. Large software companies and the Australian government have a big stake in the project. People are just mad because if they succeed it could be detrimental to a lot of other engine developers.

Yes, Voxels have been used before to do animation, and have failed in the past on some fronts. It is not the 'voxel' technology that they are claiming is to be new. Its the data handling algorithms they have developed to process and display the voxels.

As the end-users if this engine were to go to the game-development stage, we should all be praying that they will come through on the animation front.

I don't by any means expect them to reveal how they've done it until it's patented. But others also shouldn't expect me to believe it's anything but vaporware until it is actually in use by a dev studio.

All the objects in his video are repeated, so that saves a lot of ram. If his laptop have 8GB of ram they could be using 4-6GB. For a game with more types of terrain and characters on the screen, they will definitely need more than that. After watching the video I won't say this tech is fake, but I think I agree with Carmack that this is at least 5-10 years from being feasible for games.
