i'd sli the 460, its cheaper, but its up to you. Or sell the 460 get a higher end nvidia card, or just cross over, but i'd wait let prices drop and get a single high end card.

You can crossfire cards from different manufacturers. The 6950 will CF with a 6970, but the 6970 will be held back by the 6950.

I'm pretty convinced the 6850 would be a good choice at this point, I'm jw if there's any way to tell if the card is reference or not?

It's this one... any tips on knowing when a card is reference?

You mean 6950? And that card is not reference by the pictures shown. Finding a reference now may not be easy.

Using EK's configurator with specific part numbers is generally a way to see if its reference or not.
