I say no, simply because the i5 doesn't get as hot (no HT), and still overclocks like a beast. You won't notice the difference in games.

What temps under full load are too hot for the i5-2500k and the i7-2600k?

Someone said either at 95 or 98 degree celsius, the CPU shuts itself down to prevent overheating.

"Too hot" is subjective. Some people are ok with it running at 70s range under load 24/7 (or even low 80s), while others like theirs to run around 60s or high 50s to prevent the chip from degrading too fast.

Either way, it's your call lol

Personally, I don't like temps over 75 under load. My proc will get up to that while stress testing, but for real world usage for games and such it maxes out around 65 or so. I would just make sure to stay out of the 80's for extended periods of time.
