Card Droop / Backplate / Thermalright Shaman

Thread Starter
So I guess my biggest question is about droopage. I will be putting on my Thermalright Shaman and the VRM-G2(with a little modding) on my GTX 580. I previously had just the shaman on my GTX 480 and there was considerable drooping on the card. Can this get worse over time via heating and cooling of the card? My other question is do the backplates (namely the evga one for air cooling) help in rigidity/straightening of the cards?

I'm concerned over the sheer weight that will be on the card its self. Not to mention I'm adding a vantec tornado to the VRM-G2 as well.

On a side note just how hot do VRM's get? I had a somewhat overkill idea of putting a push pull setup just for the VRM-G2 =D

Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Get a backplate and call it done VRM cooling is always a good idea

Is EVGA the only manufacturer of backplates for air cooling?

I have no idea, never had a card with a backplate, or bought an aftermarket one for that matter.

As long as the backplate is for a reference PCB, and the card is a reference PCB, it will fit.

Does anyone know if on the backplates themselves if the 'EVGA' logo is a sticker or if its machined into the backplate? I really don't want to rep evga when I'm rockin a MSI card >.<

I wasn't sure how they worked for air cooling. And also I'm not exactly sure how its going to work with my backplate for my Thermalright Shaman.
