Need a new graphics card

Thread Starter
I was looking to upgrade to a gtx 580 but with the 7000 series coming up,i don't if i should wait or not. People have speculated the 7970 should be much stronger than a 580.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody knows anything about the 7000 series, that being said I think its safe to assume if they make a 7970 it will preform greater than the 580 or equal to it.

Depend on what are you going to do....

if you need a card ASAP for work then it's nVidia
if you like to work on CG and other FX stuff it's nVidia
if you like cheap stuff with good performance it's ATI
if you like to play game a lot it's ATI

it's up to you....

Going with standard ati release dates, it should be safe to assume that it should launch within a month or so.

If you wait for the next series you'll always be waiting. Wait for 7000 now wait for 600 now wait for 8000...

If you havent a budget at all I will say the GTX 580, but if you do have a budget the 6970 is a great card.
