Best Keyboard for FPS Games?

Thread Starter
Ok, I currently own a Saitek Eclipse II and it has been rock solid.

Just wondering if there is anything out there that is a significant stepup from my Eclipse which is getting a tad dated...

Also is it possible to setup custom actions in Photoshop using macro keys?

So its universally accepted that Mechanical Keyboards are best for games? I didnt know this tbh, I knew they where accepted as "better" keyboards, but didnt appreciate that this in turn extended to FPS type games as well...

Tell me this, are they quite noisy? My PC is setup in the lounge therefore noisy typing would drive my wife nuts.

Thanks.

Black of brown switches on mechanical keyboards are better for gaming. Both are fairly quiet if I remember correctly.

I think it's bollocks personally. I know gamers who own everyone consistently in certain fps games, like quakelive for instance, and they don't use mech keyboards. I think it's down to whatever feels good to you.

edit: I'll add, I still want a mech keyboard, but not because I think it'll improve my gaming.

A mechanical keyboard probably wont make gameplay better, its really on the person for that.

As for lifespan and the overall feel and quality of the keyboard, mechanical is the way to go no doubt.

I like that the actuation is half-way down the press on mechs, while gaming it tricks you into feeling like you can do things quicker if you are used to pressing keys all the way down to perform actions.

Get something with Cherry Browns.

Same here. I paid way too much for that piece of kit. Currently watching the UPS tracking on my Filco as it makes its way west across the states.
