XFX currently owns a contract with NVIDIA to have select lower models upon NVIDIA's approval.

Just out of curiousity, what happened between xfx and nvidia that they lost most of their distribution rights?

XFX violated NVIDIA's original contract and broke exclusivity rights (after the decision to start producing similar products for AMD). This prompted NVIDIA to deauthorize XFX from the approved partner list and video cards were no longer being shipped to XFX for production.
