How does my first build look?

Thread Starter
Hello,
This is my first build that I am doing myself. I would like to know if this is a pretty good build.

The reason I left out a graphics card, hard drive, and DVD drive is because I will be using those in my current build. If it matters I will be using this mostly for gaming/web surfing. Possibly a little of messing around in Maya/3DS Max and some video editing.

I don't have any "combo" because most of them did not seem to be worth it and I will be getting my CPU at Microcenter for like 40 dollars cheaper.

As I said I am doing my first build, so I am sure something is wrong with it. I just do not what is wrong.

Thanks for any feedback.

Looks like a very solid build. Not sure why you wouldn't want to jump to a 8GB memory set though, you can find deals for a good gskill ripjaws x set for $50 sometimes. Even though most would argue that 4GB is all you need, if 8GB doesn't cost much more you my as well.

Seems good but where is your graphics card. Also if your planning on overcloking you should get a cpu cooler.

The reason I kind of wish to get something other than G.Skill is because of the clearance between the CPU cooler and the ram. While I am not saying the Ripjaws X won't clear the CM Hyper 212+, if I decided to get a bigger cpu cooler, down the road, I would not have to worry about the cooler being able to fit with the ram in their sockets.

Edit: I was actually contemplating about buying a second set of the that ram actually.

Looks good. What's graphics card are you going to use. The PSU is the only thing I might change. Don't get me wrong its a good PSU just thinking you might find a even better one for the price.

The ripjaws x are just fine for the noctua D14 and the silver arrow, the one in my rig. As you can tell I have them both, and they work just fine. The only clearance issues I've heard of are some of the tall Corsair Dominators.

If you are worried about tall ram grab these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231416
From what I've heard don't load up all dimm slots b/c it stresses the board more than just using 2 sticks of larger ram. I also suggest getting 8 gb instead of 4 since RAM is just so cheap right now.
