Real Temp issue.

Thread Starter
Real Temp 3.60 won't show my clock speed, multiplier or load percentage, even when running prime95, it remains at 0.0%, 0.00 Mhz and 100.00 x 0.0

Any idea what's causing this?

Also, I'm up at 4.5ghz at 1.25v, but when I attempt to run Prime95, it locks up my system and causes a BSOD.

ETA: Upped the voltage to 1.265 and Prime95 is running fine now.

Realtemp you just need the latest version, 3.60 I think is too old for SB but I could be wrong. At the very least try the newest version you can find, 3.69 was newest last I checked.

Thanks!! I'll install it after I'm done playing this game of StarCraft II on Desert Strike. No more BSODs or any issues. Hottest temp is 58 on one core.

+1 To you! Working great!

Any comments on the voltage? Running XMP to clock my memory up to 2133mhz and it's all running great.

Welcome

I want your chip! I don't know how you are managing 4.5ghz on 1.265 volts. Is that what CPU-Z is showing? That's crazy! Get a CPU-Z validation (when under load so it shows clock speed and voltage). If CPU-Z isn't bugged, you have a golden chip!

Did you modify DRAM volts/loosen timings when you XMP'd your RAM to 2133Mhz? The speed benefits beyond 1866Mhz are barely noticeable (almost non-existent) btw.

EDIT:

Also, Prime stability can only be trusted usually after >8hrs of running. I have had BSOD's after 5hrs of Prime before. IBT is another good tool to use to check stability but with AVX enabled (i.e. version 2.51), you will see considerably higher temps than you saw in prime

Yeah, CPU-Z showed 1.265. I'll do another test and validate during to see what it says. Right now it's up at 4.7ghz, but I had to go up to 1.380 for that, and the temps are a little to hot for me.

When I set XMP, it defaulted to 2133 with a cas latency of 11 and voltage at 1.5v.

Holy golden chip batman!!
I need ~1.3v for 4.5Ghz... and that's a 2500K. You're blessed lol. (manually setting vcore or leaving it on auto? )

Considering the speed increase vs. voltage rise, I don't think it is worth staying at 4.7Ghz...

For a final stability check, here is my recommendation ( I suggest it passes both tests though some will argue that they do not reflect real world load scenarios).
1) 20 IBT runs (with AVX) on Max memory (Will get hot. lol)
2) 8hrs-12hrs Prime 95 Blend.

With those two, you are most likely rock solid with an overclock.

Manually setting the voltage.

I dropped back down to 1.265 for 4.5ghz.

How many threads should I run to guarantee 8-12 hours?

I'd say all 8 since that is how you will be generally using the chip anyway
