Newly built Sandy Bridge PC won't turn on :(

Thread Starter
The specs are listed below in my sig (minus the sound card).

The first thing I did was a quick test using just the mobo+cooler+ram+gtx570. I connected the 24 pin and 4 pin plugs, shorted the power pin on the mobo and heard a beep from the speaker, I assumed that the mobo was able to POST. (Although I connected the mobo to the U2410 via displayport but nothing showed up on the screen, I thought it may be due to lack of drivers and didn't worry too much about it)

After that, I just placed everything in the case. Once done, nothing happens when I hit the power switch... maybe the hyper212 fan wiggled/spun for 1/2 a sec on the first try, not too sure.

Some things I've already tried and didn't work...
-Pull the front panel power switch connecter and short the pins myself..
-Made sure everything is fully plugged in
-AC outlet should be working (powers my moniter fine when I switched it)

wait nevermind... Thinking that the pins had the match, I plugged in the fan connector from the power supply (4pin) into the SYS_FAN2 (4pin). Once I unplugged that, it booted up...

sorry about the newb thread

Just curious, why does that mess up the boot up completely?

Glad to hear it was just a small problem! I've seen people build a rig and spend hours upon hours trying to figure out what the issue is.
