I think now its quite clear its the avago 9500. The specs except from the dpi is exactly the same

I might give them the benefit of the doubt and try this out but I think its quite clear to see their focus moved towards dpi and looks(like razer)

If they found a way to remove the acceleration in the sensor then it might actually be pretty good

11,400dpi ??

they betrayed their own words about the whole dpi-race sonic.gif

I truly hope they've fixed the problems that were in the Xai. The accel wasn't a deal breaker for me and I could get used to it but it's still pretty annoying that my MX518 and DeathAdder out perform a $90 mouse. I've always liked SteelSeries products (6Gv2, SP, Siberia v2) but it seriously makes me face palm when I see stuff like 11,400 CPI as one of their new glaring features in their mice.

If the mouse has a perfect control speed of 2.5+ m/s and a malfunction of over 3.5+ m/s I'll be sold, but until then this looks like just a gigantic gimmick.

The lighted steelseries logo looks aweful in my opinion. When will they release a mouse with the ADNS-3090?

the avago 9500 EASILY does 2.5+ m/s on a hardpad. So if you don't mind the slight acceleration then go for it

I'm much more excited what cm does with the new avago 3050 sensor though

11,400 dpi - for when you absolutely need to do 7 full spins before killing everyone in the room.

So, this is a Xai with glowing things and ridiculously high dpi. Where's the innovation?

Innovation isn't needed, selling mice to ignorant sheep is much easier to do. Even if steelseries sold new versions of the kinzu and Xai with perfect optical sensors with 400/800/1600/3200 CPI steps they wouldn't sell half as many mice as this sensei. LED's and 12k CPI BS, that's what morons want and now SS has delivered.

SS said they sold their mice as tools, not toys. But I think they realized that toys are much more profitable.

Yup, agree with everything you say.
But by innovation i mean stuff that's actually useful.

For example, Roccat introduced easyshift thing. Basically - u press a button, and other buttons do different things while that button is pressed. That is really useful, press the button, and now the scroll wheel controls system volume etc.

That is innovation. It helps the user get stuff done more quickly.
Also another example of innovation - roccat usb cable has a plug that actually says what product is on the other end. This is useful as well.

And i mean, SS aren't even innovating on the sensor field. That's just Avago doing all the heavylifting.

Waiting when the sensor race is over and the manufacturers switch into additional features.

If Steelseries are now going to mimic the operating system and in-game sensitivity options by "doubling up" the dpi, you know what's coming... The 1 million DPI mouse! It should be awesome.
