SteelSeries Sensei - Page 54

1. I read in the AVAGO data sheet that the ADNS-9800 has "Resolution up to 8200 cpi with ~200 cpi step". If this was true it would be a major disadvantage for me, as i am using 450/ 500dpi. So is it true?
2. What are the changes apart from the sensor? More flexible cord, other feet, darker coating, MLG-logo and new switches - did I miss something?
3. How much better are these new switches?

1. Both can be set to 400DPI, so it's not really a major disadvantage.
2. Sensor and appearance.
3. The switches on both are the same Omron switches commonly found in mid-top gaming mice.

Thank you both. I am currently looking for a substitute for my brother's Xai and think I will go with the vanilla Sensei or the Fanatic now since he won't need the extra DPI (he also plays @ 450/900 c/dpi) and it's considerably cheaper and better available than the MLG here in Germany.

So they just changed the color for the MLG-Feet? I thought they might have changed the material too.

Here's what I know and why I thought this. First, the replacements on Steel Series accessories page shows the same feet size for three of their mice series.

SteelSeries Glide Xai/Sensei/Diablo 3

'Glide' replacements:
Quote:
Xai,Sensei, Diabloi 3 are made of solid Teflon tape, especially developed for the glass surface of the SteelSeries Experience mouse pads.

Xai are made from high quality gaming grade Teflon.

Kinzu are made from high quality gaming grade UPE

Ikari are made from high quality gaming grade Teflon, which is arguably the lowest coefficient of friction in the world.

Kana/Kinzu/Kinzu v2 are made of solid Teflon tape and were especially developed for the glass surface of the SteelSeries Experience mouse pads.

Quote:
Sensei, Fnatic & MLG: Gaming grade high performance UPE material covers 16 % of mouse bottom to ensure maximum glide. We recommend changing glides regularly as they will eventually be worn down.

Sounds like they are all the same hard Teflon high quality gaming grade UPE material covering all their mice. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong. smile.gif

Edited to add: Just noticed your newer to OCN - welcome aboard. thumb.gif

Thank you!

And yes, I have been registered for over a year now but I'm more of a silent reader. smile.gif

The Sensei does not have any newer firmware other than. The SteelSeries firmware updater tool version is what's updated to support newer devices such as the Diablo editions.

Btw can anyone tell me if the internals of my Sensei would fit on my R.U.S.E edition XAi, I love that glossy coating very much and my hand sweats...so the Sensei coating is not looking favorable anymore. frown.gif

Yes, they should fit.
What doesn't work is the Sensei with the newer Sensei Raw, though the shells fit, you would get unusable side-buttons.

There have been a report from a user in Singapore that his Sensei top coat have worn off after 4 months. Apparently he's not the first one, his friend also faced the same issue as well. I guess it's a common issue?

Yeah unfortunately the coating is really thin. I think there was a picture in the previous page of a person posting their Sensei with same problem starting.

I had an RMA with SS and they send me back a new Sensei MLG. But the tracking speed on my QcK+ is really low, the original Sensei had no problems with it. Almost tracks as my old G5 sadsmiley.gif
