E-350 APU HD Video Issue

Thread Starter
I picked up a laptop with the E-350/6310m today.I have read several reviews and a thread on here where people say it can play hd/blu rays up to 1080p no problem. My res is only 1366x768.My issue is I try playing .mkv or similar files that I had ripped to my desktop and watched without issue, but decided to try them on here.Anything above a dvd causes freeze up every few seconds,720 or 1080 stuff. The cpu never gets above 60% so I assume it is not the issue. The files range 5-10 gb in size so nothing with to high of a bit rate.Is my issue with the file formats or something with the gpu part of the apu?I read in one thread where drivers could be an issue?Any ideas?

Thanks.

You have to use a good video player. Can't remember the really good ones name, but I'm sure other people can help you with that.

Use a proper codec pack such as CCCP with Media Player Classic Home Cinema. You need to use DXVA for proper GPU acceleration/playback. Newer versions of VLC also have GPU acceleration (older ones don't).

Use VLC. Fusion doesn't perform well with MKVs. I can play 1080p videos on youtube but 720p MKVs kill my C-50.

I will try those ideas. Also see if I have the lastest version of VLC.I downloaded a player earlier called DivX and it worked better, but was still a little rough. The odd thing is I downloaded msi afterburner and it was showing very little activity on the gpu(shows 2 gpus ??) when having a video trying to play.

I tried Media Player Home Cinema,it was choppy, then I downloaded the codec pack,CCCP,and it seems to work well enough now with MKV and H264.Thanks for the suggestion. Will report back if anything else changes.
