Will HD 6870 be good enough for me ?

Thread Starter
I've been wondering will HD 6870 be good for me guys.
Here is what i am going to do.

I will be running games at 1920x1080 with textures at MAX
I won't have AA on, unless IF those jagged lines would annoy me so much then i would turn 2x AA maximum. And if possible if i ever see a jagged line on 2x AA, and that jagged line would also annoy me, then i would turn 4x AA and no more, no matter will i see or not jagged lines.
I won't play games like Crysis, Metro 2033 and those on benchmarks.
Only GTA IV, BFBC2, Witcher 2, COD MW2, GTA SA, TES IV: Oblivion, NFS MW, Counter Strike 1.6 and Counter Strike Source.

Will i be getting at least average 60+ FPS ?
And also which model of HD 6870 would you recommend ?

Thanks

A 6870 is slightly more powerful than a 5850 which can play all those games decently. I play BFBC2 at 1680 x 1050 and it doesn't get 60 FPS constant, so if you absolutely need it get a 6950 or 6970.

I have 2 6870´s in crossfire here using a single 1920x1080 monitor, and for a considerable time i used a single one so i think i can talk in detail about "what you will get".

in some games that you mention that you will play, there are some problems:

GTA IV: massive cpu bottleneck, unless you have a very fast modern cpu (like an overclocked core i7), the maximum performance of the game will be dictated only by the cpu, considering that the video card is "as fast as an radeon 5770" for the most of the time.
fact: likely you WONT get 60+ fps in gta4 in high details, even if you have a VERY fast cpu. (using a core i5 750 at 3.8ghz i get an average 30+ in high details)

BFBC2: cpu bottleneck/gpu bottleneck, to get an solid average 60+ fps, you will need both a strong cpu and a strong gpu, the 6870 will be "strong enough" (considering that you dont use AA and AF at high levels) but the cpu need to be at the performance class of a stock core i7 920 at least.

TES IV: Oblivion: does have a big cpu bottleneck if you enable a long visibility distance, likely you wont be getting 60+ fps on the open areas. (but it will run 60+ at the most of the time that really matters)

COD MW2, GTA SA, NFS MW, Counter Strike 1.5/Source
Will run maxed without any problems, NFS MW has some sort of "unstable motion" on screen when it runs at high framerates but exactly speaking a "framerate problem" you wont have.

about the model of the 6870, i can say that if you live in a very hot place (something like 30+ celsius on average) the stock cooler might not do the job with ease, if dont, any reference model theoretically.
