Thre is no point in upgrading graphics anymore. - Page 6

Maybe you should stop playing console ports.

ARMA2 makes even my video card cry. Shogun 2 will absolutely ruin your computer, GTA4 too. Can a GTS250 even play GTA4 on something more than medium/low?

Try the Witcher 2 if you want to see some pixel porn, looks better than Crysis in my opinion.

One thing. My machine costs about as much as an xbox or PS3.

The REAL benefit, I have a KEYBOARD and MOUSE!

If someone spends $2000 to make their games look pretty, that's their own prerogative.
Doesnt mean its in any way needed.

This thread needs to be moved to rent/raves, or put in its own section for crybabies.

I have said for a long time that these graphics companies are the one who need to begin spurring the market by encouraging devs to make more cutting-edge video games, or it will be their own downfall. Heck, I haven't upgraded in about 18 months and I am having no problems playing all of my games. Sure I don't max every game the way some of you can, but I am certain the experience isn't very different at all. Of course I am upgrading just before BF3 drops, but by then it will be almost 2 years between upgrades, when I used to upgrade every 9-12 months.

Ya spend 300+$ on a GPU for a single game? That's what the OP means. When you upgrade a GPU now days its to max out one or two games. Today those games are Bad Company 2, BF3, Metro. But what else?

Everything else is being developed for lower hardware. Think Magica, Trine, Global Agenda or Portal. It's not smart to develop games that only a few people can play so their developing games for PC's with dual cores and 8800gt's or 4850's.

My buddies pc with a 955 and 5850 can run everything out today. My Q6600 and 6950 are more than enough for the average PC game now. The OP has a point, upgrading your PC is becoming more and more pointless unless your benchmarking.

Also I put my old 4850 into my rig with a E5700 dual core and 2gb of DDR2 ram and it can max out SC2 and play a lot of other games at decent settings at 1680 by 1050, which used to be a gaming standard.

For example, I have a GTS 250 in my system. That GTS 250 is more than capable of running Crysis 2 maxed out. And if the disease of consolitis keeps spreading, then i will have no reason to buy a Graphics card even 5 years from now.[/QUOTE]

Oh please...Wake upYou should just game on PS3 or XBox 360 since u have no idea of how to truly enjoy pc gaming

My laptop can easily run Crysis 1. Though it cannot run Crysis 2. So, nice try.
LoL .. Rage and Battlefield 3 are coming out very soon... lets see your GTS 250 run those maxxed . Mind you, you weren't running Crysis 2 maxxed anyways unless you're talking about Directx 9 which isn't even close to DX11 + high resolution textures.

You're probably right... until you and your console friends play the same game in the same room. There are reasons why a lot of people here are willing to shell out $300+ on graphic card(s).

Watching their jaws drop when they realize that they're playing at sub-30 fps the entire time... priceless
