they should just keep it simple and easy. Make the stock coolers more efficient.

Very Cool, however i think im perfectly fine with my Hyper 212+ as a H50 and the like are really not much better, although i think i should note that Stock AMD Coolers (At least the ones i got) were pretty decent as they had heatpipes and all in them, they werent too bad you could generally OC a bit with them, unlike the Intel Stock Coolers which your lucky to run them at stock with.

Silicon and packaging since the "standard" chips and enthusiast chips are from the same wafer.

The potential for disaster is just too high with this sort of thing. People who want to water cool will not use it most likely they already have or will obtain higher quality gear.
The people I think most likely to use it are those with zero experience using water cooling - and these are the ones with the highest chance of an improper installation causing a disastrous leak.
I think it is a horrible idea.

Enthusiast CPUs shouldn't even come with a HSF in the box just sell me the chip at the lowest cost possible.
I am all for keeping things cheap and simple.

I agree.

Maybe they should just put a Earthworm Jim action figure in the box instead or a piece of paper that says !@#$ you buy more of our processors.

Advanced Micro Devices is mulling to equip boxed versions of its FX-series central processing units (CPUs) with a liquid-cooling solution (LCS) in order to enhance their overclockability as well as to improve their image in the eyes of high-performance computer enthusiasts. The idea seems to be rather innovative and AMD's arch-rival Intel Corp. is also considering it.
I have a news flash for you guys:

High-performance computer enthusiasts already have their liquid cooling systems!!!!!!

We'll see a lot of these LCSs in the for sale section soon if an OEM chip isn't available.
Quote:
Self-contained liquid cooling solutions are more reliable than higher-end custom LCSs that involve numerous plastic pipes and have high risk of leak. By contrast, self-contained liquid coolers have seriously lower risk of leak, but they still perform much better than traditional air coolers with fans and heatsinks. There are more advantages that sealed liquid cooling systems have over traditional air coolers. Firstly, such coolers route all the CPU heat directly out of chassis, which means lower overall ambient temperature. Secondly, the low physical size of water-block drastically reduces the footprint of CPU cooling system, which greatly increases overall airflow inside chassis.

These are really "it depends" kind of statements. It depends on the QA of the self-contained systems. It depends on the experience and knowledge of the custom loop builder. It depends on the type of self-contained system and the type of air cooler. It depends on where you have the rad mounted. It depends on how your case is setup and the fans you are using. The HSF might be the largest source of air movement in your case.

I guess I should just let it go for the sake of generalizations and article flow.

People were getting pretty good OCs on the stock cooler. Your ambients must be really high.

Sounds like a good idea. But yes, selling this to enthusiasts won't matter, as we all have crazy setups already. I might be more inclined to recommend an AMD system with this option, however.
