Wait a few weeks.... these lower prices won't be reflected in the market right away... and there's room for lower prices still.
Once again...

It has been dropping, but not as much as DDR3. This same trend happened with DDR1, and DDR2. The DDR2 crash was right about a year after I started with the company. I vaguely remember selling 2GB DDR2-800 modules for under $10.00 at the time.

Hah! We've got a bit to go for that. You know if you buy that it'll just drop 10% the next day!

So why are demands even worse now?

And if we are going to see lower demands in memory, does that mean other parts may take a hit too?

Hmmm, I think Dev is working on it. You can always just buy two dual-channel kits. =)

Blame Vista and the recession....

The global economy isn't doing that great.

Memory is a commodity unlike CPUs or motherboards. Commodities are goods in demand but with the goods themselves have virtually no differences. Other examples are oil, coffee, or gold. Companies just buy these on a market and care very little who produced them.

Hey, it could be worse.

We get calls from folks that are upset because the 1GB of DDR1 they paid $400 for is worth like, $35 now!

That or the folks that have/want/need RDRAM. Those are always fun...
