New headset Steelseries Siberia V2

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm trying to find out which headset I should buy since my Logitech G35 broke and I found the Steelseries Siberia V2 but you can get it in two different versions.

- the normal one with 3,5mm analog plugs
- or one that has an USB Integraded 7.1 surround soundcard you get with it

I'm kinda on a budget and I really liked the 7.1 virtual surround sound on the Logitech G35 when listening to music and movies I never used the 7.1 virtual sound in games just normal(stereo I guess). Does the Steelseries USB Integraded 7.1 surround soundcard offer that aswell or is it just a waste of money?

Else I will just buy the normal Siberia V2 because it costs like 20$ less here in my country.

I would like to warn you that 90% of future posts would try to persuade you to go for a different option. This should be helpful: http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards...-headsets.html

Recommendation would be a clip-on Zalman zm-mic1 mic and one of the following headphones (hopefully you have a decent sound card or else headphones won't have that surround sound feel):

AD700-Pure competitive gaming headphone. Little bass, huuuuge soundstage.

Ultrasone Pro/HFI 550- Great bass, big soundstage. A bit more expensive than AD700 but sound alot better.

Sennheiser HD555-Light bass, smaller soundstage, neutral sounding.

Superlux 668B-Very good all around headphones for gaming.
About the whole USB soundcard thingy. Don't bother with that as it forces you to use the headset, and is useless once the headset is useless. Instead, get a real soundcard so you can experience surround sound with headphones (they don't have to be 5.1 or 7.1 headphones to have surround sound). Get a Xonar DG or DX for $30-$40 and that'll allow for surround sound and stuff.
