First SSD windows 7 install or copy?

Hello there,

Imagen the following.

A guy has a computer with a 450gig WD HD.
The user folder and program files folders together take up 200G.

This man now bought a 30G SSD to use as boot disk, would I be able to just cut and paste the windows folder onto the ssd and make that the boot disk?
Or would I have to move other maps as well to make it working?

Or should he do a fresh install on the ssd and delete all maps besides windows from it after.

Clean install it. Cannot just cut/paste and programs will need re-installed if most are going to be on the 2nd drive.

I would backup the old drive, format it, install the os on the ssd, install the programs on the storage drive, and copy ofver critical files from the backup.

soooo? to what shall I backup the now main drive? I got no other hd's lying around any more. And by installing the programs on the storage drive you mean getting those files from the backup and placing them there?

real men don't backup. Just do a clean install and reinstall the programs you actually need. Every time I upgrade my PC and am forced to do an OS install I am always amazed how much CRAP accumulates over time.

^^ what he said!
Otherwise just ghost the drive to DVD's (about 46 DVD's for 200GB) and then you have your backup lol Ghost is great!

Norton Ghost
Great product! makes an image of the drive and then you can specify location to save it (dvd, hd, tape backup)
