New USB wireless adapter!!

Thread Starter
OK so my motherboard dosent have a pci port so i cant migrate my pci adapter, my house is pretty big and it has some thick ass brick walls (slimmest is about 40cm going up to 80cm) but the ones that interfere are in the slim slide of things... so i need a good adapter with some kick ass range, what i can get here in Monterrey is:
(23 dollars)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833425004

(15 dollars)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833704045

i don't really care for the price i just added it for reference, which one of these two would give me better range??

if someone was to recommend a very very nice antenna from newegg (needs to have MASSIVE range) i could maybe wait until one of my friends goes to the border and i could order it from newegg and have him /her bring it to me (i live in mexico)

thanks

I am about 10 - 15 meters away from my router but there are 2 40cm brick walls ******* up everything.

Have you thought about powerline networking?
It distributes your internet connection using the power circuit in your house. This means you wouldn't need to worry about interferance or the signal being reduced by walls.
A example of a simple powerline adapter kit would be - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156283

or see if you can get a couple wireless routers and make a bridge

use dd-wrt or tomato

or a pair of these

1 port b/g router
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833320025
or
1 port b/g/n router
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833315095

either can repeat or bridge

I was sceptical of powerline technology. Once i got the damn thing, it proved my scepticism. Horrible piece of technology.

Let's just say your house wiring must be very solid. My house was build 10 years ago, horrible powerline connection. My friends house, build 3 years ago, just as horrible.

I'm still sticking to my wireless.

i once tried a repeater but couldn't get it to work remotely... (i suck i know)
so i had to have it connected to the router via an Ethernet cable so it was more like an extension of the router.... (repeater got wet and died)

the wiring in my house is pure poop, i even had to change internet provider to a satellite service cause the wiring in my house was creating too much noise for a lowly 1MB connection, now i have 6MB (good for mexico) i might try a repeater but i will need to learn more bout routers b4 i try that again...

my 6 year old dell inspiron gets 1-2 bars(depending on luck) if i put it right besides my tower, so maybe i am exaggerating the need for massive range since a 6 year old laptop adapter has signal here. (crap signal tho)

Thanks for the help guys

if something dosent make sense or is not typed correctly its because im from mexico

i love parentesis

I just purchased the TP-LINK adapter today. We will see how it works when I get it next week. Also, it is $5 cheaper on amazon and has free 2-day shipping if you have a prime account
