GTX 570 idling at 50?

Thread Starter
I just finished putting my system together and has not yet started to OC or any kind of modding at all. When I did some searching, it appears that GTX 570 should idle at 30-35 or so? However, according to GPU-Z, I'm currently idling at 50 with 41% fan speed and 0.975 V.

This is normal or is there something wrong?

I'm running dual display (1920x1200 and 1920x1080) if that makes any difference.

It's the dual display that's causing the high idle temp.

It should be cooler than 50C at idle. Your case should be plenty roomy, and have enough airflow to keep it around 30-35C idle. I would contact EVGA.

[edit]

nm, I guess dual display makes idle temps go higher, I only have one monitor so I wouldn't know.

Bump up the fan speed. Problem solved

Ahh, that was definitely the cause. I switched to single display and its now down to 36.

I guess its better to just up the fan speed on dual display setting?

Well... once I saw that it went down to as low as 33 on a single display, I flipped it back to dual display. However, its time it is staying at 33 degrees on 41% fan.

Yup, it's the dual monitor thing, My GTX480 idle's at 38C, but if I plug 2 monitors in, it goes straight upto 48-50C

Is it normal if I switched from single to dual again, but the temps are not going back to 50?

edit: nvm... it was showing me the minimum reading.

Use this "trick" and you will have 2d clocks in dual display as well.
