5.0ghz @ 1.488v

Thread Starter
I have been sitting at 4.5ghz 1.308v roughly for a month now. H50 is cooling it and never been over 65c Max 100% Load on Prime 95. Never had a hiccup or BSOD. It has ran solid.

I have been curious if it could go to 5, So last night I tried for 5.0ghz, and could only get it to run stable on 1.488v. (Have not prime 95 it for a lengthy test, just a hour.) Running at setting I hit 87c 100% full load. Figured this was def not gonna last long if I kept that up and killed the test.

My question is, what are some of the voltages are like @ 5.0ghz and maybe some tips to help lower it. I have not tried anything else other than the typical 100.00 x 50. I am fairly new to this scene and trying to learn more about it. I have read several of the articles here and I feel that I am off to a good start since a low % of i7s hit over 5ghz from what I read. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Could try if 102*49 gives you anything better (if you can even get a 102 base clock), uneven multi's always helped the Nehalems, but I'm not that familiar with Sandy Bridge.

I'm at 1.464 load, @5ghz, 100.03x50. Don't recall the BIOS voltage setting.

I'm spiking to about 78C at the moment while running BOINC, with the GPU dumping a ton of heat into my loop. Granted I'm using a full custom setup.
