For all those that hate Origin, the fracking game is also on impulse.

I think we all know that 90% of the people here claiming they won't buy BF3 (a pretty small percentage considering the angry crowd is generally the loudest) will buy it anyways. All you're doing is denying yourself the fun of playing BF3, and denying money towards DICE, one of the few major developers standing up for the PC platform. Lose-Lose.
Again, Origin will make EA more money regardless of whether or not a couple dozen people refuse to use it, it's not going anywhere. So unless you can conjure a plan to make EA lose profit, you're not accomplishing anything whatsoever. It's not a civil rights case.. it's a business decision.
- We already know it is a business decision
- We already know that our lost sales does not mean anything to them
- We already know that we are missing out on what could be a great game
- We already know that most people are spineless loud mouths who will still buy the game (good for them)
- We have already decided that between the choices of not playing BF3 or choking down a forced distribution client, that we will rather not play. If you don't agree, well too bad for you. It is not your choice to make.
- We are not angry. BF3 and EA fans seem way angrier than us.

We already know and have said all that. Why are you still trying to argue with us for things we already know and have told you BF3 fans repeatedly that we know? If you truly understand our sentiments, then simply accept it to move on. Again, it is not like we are telling you not to buy and enjoy the game. We accept and respect your decision to buy the game through Origin, why can you not accept and respect our decision not to? If you feel that strongly about supporting Dice, then feel free to buy the game multiple times on our behalf.

There's so much wrong with that statement. The reason most people are saying they hate Origin is because "they don't want 10,000 different distribution apps" (even though its only two). By using Impulse, it would make them hypocrites.

You know what's great? Shooting stuff. You know what's great about BF3? You can shoot stuff. Thus, I care less about where i buy it and more about shooting stuff.

I think the point of this article is that no matter where you buy it from (Retail, Direct2Drive, Impulse, etc) you'll be forced to use Origin. Similar to how Direct2Drive sells games like Modern Warfare 2 that use Steamworks for a friend's list, game updates, etc, and thus require Steam to be used.

This. BF3 and SW:TOR will be using "Originworks."

It isn't about hating Origin. I don't hate Origin. I have never used Origin so I have no feelings about Origin itself. It is not about buying the game from another distribution client either. I can accept Steam, because I already have multiple games on there. I would honestly prefer a physical retail version that is not tied to any distribution client.

Alright, I'm not sure why you're defensive all of the sudden, I was just trying to find out why you'd actually deny yourself entertainment when it won't benefit anyone at all. I never tried to convince you to buy the game (I don't even know where you got that), and I'm certainly not angry (why would I be?), I just can't understand. You're certainly taking a lot of assumptions here on everyone's behalf.

You obviously completely missed the point of my posts then. It is not that I don't want origin intruding on my love for steam, its the way EA has set up origin. They've set out to copy steam but messed up some of the fundamentals that made it so popular, and due to that from what I can see its doomed to fail.

Sort of, its on the principle of it all too. Making sure that the steam overlay doesn't work (as I'd found in the alpha) is the main thing putting me off BF3. I would be fine with it if they weren't trying to stop steam at every turn, afterall competition is good
