Although I usually question the developers/publishers in matters such as this, this is one of those times when I question the PC gamers... calling COD4, or L4D/L4D2/portal 2 a console port is baseless and illogical, if anything they were ported the other way.
Every Call of Duty from 4 and beyond IS a console port. This is basic known information. I never ONCE said L4D/L4D2 were console ports. I said they were made with console gameplay in mind. Portal 2 WAS a port. Remember the infamous "Do not turn off your console" that Valve removed and never said a word about?

I realize you're a mod, and I really don't care. It's obvious you're basing YOUR illogical claims on absolutely nothing. Perhaps you should ensure that you have the slightest evidence to back up what you're saying before...you know...you say it.

I disagree on every account and I could say the exact same thing for your argument, just saying. From what I've seen, loving the L4D/portal series, as well as clocking up a few hundred hours on COD4 over the years I can confidently say neither were console ports. Please keep in mind that the definition of a port has changed over the last 3-4 years, I still have the old definition in my head(if it lacks PC specific features, not if its on a console).

And don't assume because I'm a mod I'll power trip lol, I'll happily discuss this as long as its in the bounds of the TOS

Besides, L4D is supposed to be a small team-based game, there's nothing to argue otherwise, and that is not perse a reason why the game was made with consoles in mind first.

Supporting PC-gamers doesn't mean 'include all the current day features for high-end GPU's" not everybody has a state of the art GPU.
Valve has done well, maintaining the Source engine and provide support for legacy hardware, that way nearly everybody with a PC can play their games.

That's what I call PC support, yes.

EA just adding tons of graphical features and allowing for 64-players, singling out a ton of PC gamers, not so much.

Bah, Novalogic supported 128 players with Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising.

Funny cause in the Skyrim thread and lets not forget the Crysis 2 threads dx9 attracted so much rage and hate from the OCN community, even though the graphics of both games slaughters any valve game. Its either the people on OCN dont know what they want or valve is always allowed a free pass.

I am honestly not sure what is a port now days and what isnt, cause people choose to be biased when it suits them.

Many people scream the assassins creed and pop franchise is a port, but I do not see how, it has awesome controls, great gfx and people do not understand how hard it is to make workable platforming controls on mouse and keyboard.

People say Witcher 2 is not a port despite the combat depth being stripped same with the leveling system, however its still an awesome game.

Crysis 2 was a port? Why because it apparently had worse gfx than crysis 1 (which still kill valve gfx and dx11 patch put it on par with crysis again, and low multiplayer count 4v4 like a certain other game)

People still cry any game from EA as a port which I do not see why.

People scream ports at companies that make most of their sales on consoles without focusing on the game at all.

The whole orange box was ported to the 360, who says they won't do the same here? Honestly... it being on a console != it being a console port! COD4 is a good example of this, not to mention the large majority of valve games being on consoles anyway.

We are all biased in our own little way, but the way I see it with the whole BF3/origin thing, its the no dedicated servers thing all over again... it'll be slow and gradual, but the way the industry is going we may as well be playing on a console in the future.
Why are you refering as EA studios as a whole in the first place though?

Most games developed by EA themselves suck, but DICE and certain other developers from EA make very good games. You are clearly not familiar with all the awesome games they made, even in DICE twitter they said that they were not happy about the no steam release of bf3 (in all honesty I would not say that kind of stuff since EA is the one paying them ). So why would people not support DICE how have delivered PC centric features in all of their games? and whose games cannot be labeled as a console port.

Also what does Origins have to do with the no dedicated servers in MW2? one took away features that the PC community was accustomed to for years, while the other added in something the PC community was accustomed to for years; steam like DRM that could also be used as a store. So because steam get a competitor your going to cry we will all be playing on consoles because of it? really?

Maybe you are too loyal to steam and valve than pc gaming itself

My mistake. Retail SW:TOR does not require Origin to run. Digital version is just an Origin exclusive. SW:TOR already has its own client like other MMO's.

Either way, until EA either releases it without Origin, on Steam, or there is a 3rd party solution that does not involve Origin, I am personally skipping out on any and all EA games where you have to use Origin regardless of distribution method.
