How do you choose?! - Page 2

Thanks for all the replies.

I had looked at the Antec 900 and while it was a good looking case I ruled it out because of no cable management holes. My fiance has an Antec 300 and he's really happy with it but now I know that cable management holes exist I really want a case with them to try my hand at a neat setup.

Looks like everyone is suggesting I upgrade my hardware, I just didn't want to do it and then be disappointed with the results but it seems that I should notice a performance increase.

The HAF does seem popular and I really like it, the only thing stopping me choosing it outright was the fact it only left 2 HDD bays when you removed the middle and I currently have 3. But if it's roomy enough to hold the new GPU with it in then I suppose that doesn't matter and it's nice to have the customisable options for later.

Of course then the HAF 912 and Enforcer are practically the same inside but the Enforcer has USB 3.0 but I think has less fans at stock.

That brought me to the Fractal Arc but it only has 2 DVD drive bays which I'll take up immediately. But it does look lovely and sleek and the temperatures in that review put it well ahead of the rest I'm looking at.

The CM 690 II is also nice and I'm not sure what's stopping me from just buying it. I may look at that one a bit more tomorrow, it does have loads of fan space for the future which is a plus.

My graphics card is indeed 4 years old (good guess!). I never messed with it because it was so expensive, if I broke it I wasn't getting another one. I might do a bit of dismantling and see if I can get it running cooler. I do game, I bought quite a bit in the recent Steam sale that I want to play but don't want to while running so hot (It hit 90 after 5 minutes of Tropico 3 and I'm pretty sure that isn't very good for it).

I'd love to go look at the cases in person but I don't think there's anywhere near here that'll stock them. My local computer enthusiast store shut down fairly soon after PC World came to town and I really can't see them stocking many cases.

Argh case choosing is so hard :/

IMO, I don't care how functional, flexiable, adaptable or creative a case is. In the end, if it looks like ass *cough, Lian Li, Thermaltake* I simply won't buy it.

One thing to keep in mind is that the arc midi has fantastic STOCK cooling, but by adding/upgrading the fans in the other cases they can be brought to par (although obviously if you added the same fans to the fractal it would be even BETTER)

Thanks for all the replies and help. I have a Fractal Arc Midi coming from Ebuyer now. Decided that the cooling was most important and as I liked the look of all the cases then I should go with best stock performance.
