(MSI R6870 HAWK) or (Zotac GeForce GTX 470 Amp)? - Page 4

If you want the fastest, buy the GTX470. If you want the more versatile GPU, by the 6870 Hawk. Either 1 will get you near GTX480-stock speed {470 will be more closer or equal to the 480}.

Only by a few lousy fps and I do agree that the 470 Amp is only slightly faster. It's just funny how 1 would say the 470 Amp destroys the 6870 Hawk lmaosmiley.gif If there was a 15 to 20 fps difference, that would be a destroying victory IMO.

if you ever just will use one card get the 470

if you will eventually get 2 cards get the 6870

but they are quite close in performance

but keep in mind the 6870 uses 30-40% less power

thumb.gif I can easily agree with this only if the OP is not entertaining the thought of Eyefinity which he did not mention.

At 470 equals 480 performance at 800mhz

And most 470's can go above that speed

The GTX470 will anyways beat the HD6870 in games but there is very little difference (only by like 3%).

That's the worst comparison site I have ever seen.

It didn't even compare game results

For reference 470s going above 800MHz, yes, more successfully with good cooling wink.gif You have a far better chance going beyond (at least an additional 25MHz) 800MHz out the box with the ZOTAC 470 Amp and Gigabyte 470 SOC which does not create a vast performance improvement over 800MHz.

I sweet you have no idea what your talking about.

I have 800mhz on my GTX 470 with it's stock reference cooler.

And no performance improvement over 800Mhz? Lol

Where did I say that it could not be done? I had only stated that it's even more successful with better cooling.

Did I say there's no improvement? I had said no vast performance improvement from 800 to 825MHz whistle.gif

Yeesh! You're such a sensitive fanboi lachen.gif Calm down, I like & use Nvidia GPUs too wink.gif
