If you don't buy a grip you are cheating yourself. I shoot vertical a lot, and it is indispensable.

They're really fun to play around with in tandem with a pair of off-camera flashes -- just bring a gas generator and do some weird stuff. The spice of life.

that is an awesome idea. that would be fun to play with, i enjoyed playing with light in film/video but it feels different in photography maybe because i always was renting lights and never owned my own before

and i still want a grip but i keep watching movies and seeing examples of awesome single point lighting in photos as well and i want to play with it too, maybe i can try to get it all. i think i might get the speed light first and then buy the grip after one more shoot since i have a few possible ones lined up when school starts.
