Damn the Phantom is a beast. What about Antec Lanboy (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...t-_-11-129-093). It's a mid ATX but it's *awesome.* Usually goes for ~$170ish, but this weekend it's only $94.99 after MIR ($119.99 - $25 MIR)!

Definitely looks functional but I've never been a fan of cases that sport your typical gaudy mix of colorful plastic and neon lights.

Thanks anyway though

No problem. You sure you can't find some room to squeeze in the extra 2" of the Phantom? If not, just take a look around Newegg for a full ATX case that has the airflow and design that you need/like. If you don't *need* a full ATX, then go with a midATX. You'll be able to get one with better cooling and that is more aesthetically pleasing for a similar/lower price.

In my opinion your first build was good. The ram the ,the video card, the hd were all better choices in my opinion. yes the spinpoint will be fine for a storage drive. Not knocking samsungs but, i prefer WD, for reliability, warranty, and rma, im on the west coast (easy easy) I also think for the money your spending on that card you should go with GTX 580 - you will thank yourself later!
I do agree with your case change, and a bigger ssd ( trust my a 120 will fill up fast with todays games, and programs.)
Good luck and , have fun.

I agree, I'm going to just get a GTX580.

You say my first build was better... alright, I can respect that, but why? It was pretty similar to what I have now except for the switch from WD to Spinpoint, G.Skill to Mushkin, and Asus to ASRock.

I went with Mushkin because I've owned Mushkin RAM before and had the best experience with them, and Corsair as well; two great companies. They are pricey so at first I was inclined to try G.Skill but then it dawned on me... I'm ordering from some obscure Taiwanese company that makes subpar RAM, and they do. I've never used any G.Skill products in the past solely on being told they were awful. Mushkin is 100% American and employee owned. You do sometimes get what you pay for.

I switched from the Sabertooth to the ASRock Gen3 because essentially Asus and ASRock as the same quality since ASRock used to be part of Asus but ever since branching off has made quite a name for itself... also that "TUF" armor crap on the Sabertooth looks like a tacky gimmick, I'm sure you feel the same way. The design is more conducive to trapping heat rather moving it. Also, I wanted the Z68 chipset for Virtu and QuickSync.

I agree with you on the WD Black though, I tend to always have better performance with WD drives but I wanted to save a buck... I'm already nearing 2 grand, so what the heck... back to WD Black.

I'm in the southwest... gonna be tough keeping this monster cool

Just throwing this out there, but I read some people had issues with the HAF X PCI slots being too far away from the GFX cards and people couldn't attach them properly. Has anyone experienced this or did those who have just get a bad batch of cases?

I do believe the hd, and the gpu choices were better. On the ram i was going by soley that i never had any experience ,with mushkin or g skill. Mainly that g skill has a good rep around here( as for myself i am a corsair guy)

And i have had no issues with my HAF-X i have ran sli, as well as a dedicated phsx card with no issues! My only gripe is it only comes with one led fan, and only one top fan. ( kinda of cheaped out for the price) But other than that its a killer case with great airflow and features!
