bottle neck

Thread Starter
first of all id like to say hello because im new and that im a total newb and im not pretending to know or understand anything lol.

here we go!

I'm pretty sure my cpu is bottle necking my gpu.

I just upgraded my hd4850 that came with the dell i bough a couple of years ago for a gtx 560ti.

i only compared them on the ff14 benchmark...

4850 : score of 2975
560ti : score of 3200

and my 3dmark11 score was of 3200 aswell.

specs:

630i
2.333 mhz
q8200
4x1G black dragon 800mhz
nvidia gtx 560

ive upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers and ran driver clean to get rid of the ati stuff.

any suggestions? I'm sure that the 560 should be way out preforming the 4850... and YES i know the q8200 is the worst quad out there but could it be because of that?

thanks!

I dont think so but I don know anything about those quad cores. Is ur cpu overclocked, if not try oc'ing it a bit and see if ur 3dmark graphics score goes up.

Huge bottleneck. There's nothing wrong with the Q8200 once you overclock it.

At 3.2ghz the bottleneck should be very slight.

could some one give me some insight on how to "properly" overclock the q8200, the highest I can get is 2.5 ghz.

Not sure, I had a Phenom. I think you'll be limited by your RAM but I'd wait for someone else to post or google it.

Are you getting less than 40 fps with games?
The q8200 has a low clock but its no slouch.
I dont know what software they use to check gpu usage with nvidia cards.
Try rivatuner and check gpu/cpu usage while in game.
If gpu usage stays above 80% then there is no bottleneck.
