GTX590 vs GTX580 3GB - Page 2

ya HD 6990 is much better than gtx590 so if you are looking for gtx590 you can go for HD 6990 , it beats gtx590 in every bench

Wait, he didn't comment on a particular video card. I don't see how he catches flak for this. Nice "contribution."

Missing the point.

I was saying that asserting that either the 6990 or the 590 is the better card is going to get you flak, but the argument is frivolous because both cards perform extremely well.

Not sure what you're missing.

Missing the point. He was just saying the assertion the 6990 is "easily" the fastest single card was wrong, which it is.

Please explain to me where he said the 590 was better. Maybe you should read the posts you're replying to.

Let me include the quote so you don't try to change the context:

LOL look at all these red/green rants -_-. 590/6990 is not justified for 1080p, and 590 is horrible in res higher than 1080p, because of VRAM. Also, the performance itself is faster on 6990 and it has much higher overclocking headroom.

^ This.

If it's an older system there's no point in getting a top end video card cause it will bottleneck.

There are some games where the 580 will not reach a constant 60fps. And those are out right now, skip a year or two and you might have more and more games that require more power to max out at a steady 60fps.

I know I got a 590, has been performing very nicely and folding almost 24/7.

And sigh to the people claiming that a 6990 beats a 590 in every bench. For the guys who own the card, if you're so sure please participate in RagingCain's bench off here

But anyways, I'd suggest the 590 since it's not usually that much more expensive than a 3gb 580.

-_-... I don't claim this, but 6990 will beat 590 in more benches and add that with much higher OC potential and enough VRAM to actually work in eyeinfinity. And also, come on, u would use 590/6990 for 1080p..? What a waste of electricity and money O_o
