Well, this is a fun thread.
6870s are better than a single 580.
SLI 580s > CFX 6870s, a 590, CFX 6970s, CFX 6950s, SLI 570s, SLI 560s
1920x1080 does need 2 or 3 GPUs in some games to get achievable performance.
120 Hz monitors benefit from having 120 FPS, believe it or not, and Vsync On can be a number greater than 60 Hz. Did you kids not have CRTs growing up?!!?!?
3D Vision at HIGH resolutions 5760x1080 needs the 3GB of ram, 2D Surround can run just fine in 5760x1080, even sometimes up to 8xAA. All depends on the game. There are only like 4 that go above 1.5GB at higher than 2560x1600 resolution.
FOR Pure performance right at the box, 580 SLI is the way to go.
For good excellent performance right at the box, 590 is a very easy, clean, quiet way to go.
AMD's camp doesn't offer 3D Vision.

A few reviewers say the 6870s are faster, for actual users the single 580 is quite a ways ahead in benchmarks.
Benching may not be the same as gaming, but for straight up performance...
Wisdomz. I needs more of this.

Jealousiez. People who know how to maximize performance have respect. People who don't know that HWBot consists of anything from no cooling, to liquid Helium cooling would do better by visiting them.Edited by RagingCain - 8/12/11 at 2:16pm
