6950 or wait until 7000? - Page 2

Just throwing this out there, but doesn't the 7000 series make use of PCIE 3?

Well, current GPU's don't make use of PCI-E 2, so it doesn't really matter.

Indeed consider that your present card cannot play/do right now, then that will help you decide whether to wait or not. You will definately see a much larger performance increase if you sit out the 6000 series and wait for the 7000 series as its a completely new architecture.

How about wait till 7000 then 6950? Prices will lower on the 6 series.

I wanna get the 6950 personally:

- AMD may intro the lower end ones first
- 28nm is very immature and probably bug riddled
- Same arch, just die reduction and increase in clock size
- Drivers will be immature this year

I'd get the 6850 or 6870, wait a year, wait for the true refresh and upgrade then

Get it now, sell it later. You'll miss out if you keep waiting. Technology is always progressing, no point of you waiting.

+1 Definitely grab a 6850 for 150 bucks or so to hold you over they are great cards can max most games outside metro and crysis series.

I'm still happy with my 5970 1000/1300 ... thought the the 2D and driver issues where trying ... I'll be waiting for 7000 or the two core version (if there is one) or maybe be switching back to the green side.
