$500 Budget - No Graphics Card - Page 2

Why would you put SSD in a $500 budget...he still needs a case, PSU, and CPU cooler on top of what you posted.

my bad got a bit carried away, take the ssd off the total and put a 212+ or something, don't know what PSU as I don't know what gpu/s he'll be using, as for the Case, not sure.

Revised:

i5 2500k $220

asrock p67 extreme4 $150 or the BIOSTAR TP67XE $125 (openbox Biostar available for $85)

Ripjaw X 8GB RAM $60

TOTAL (cheapest possible, Open Box Biostar) - $365

That leaves $135 to spend on cooler (212+ recommendation) case and PSU and a HDD if his runnging the 560 then I would say this PSU would do fine: Corsair CX430V2 for $35 MIR

What parts can you recycle? Have an extra case, psu or hdd? If you do you could invest. In a gpu, but if no gaming is going to be done then I nvest in more storage

That's better I didn't mean to come off harsh or seem like I was criticizing, but he hasn't given us information as to whether he'll be reusing some older parts. If not, then PSU and case are definitely important!

Check the build under my sig. Take out the gpu and it comes to around $485 from Newegg. I'd love to do overclocking, but I just needed SOMETHING. smile.gif

I'm a light gamer and watch HD video and it's great for me.

Best of luck man. biggrin.gif

No worries, your right, I kinda jumped the gun a little there, definitely, case and PSU are important. $35 for the PSU and I think you can get a 212+ for real cheap these days (something like $20/25) and that would leave the rest for a HDD and case. He might be able to salvage some things from a previous build or something, like you said not much to go by.

Thread Starter
Sorry for the delayed reply guys, packing to leave for college on Sunday and I was dead at four A.M. when I read all your responses.

Anyway - The computer is for college. My old desktop died two years ago and I felt like getting back into the game because playing LoL on my laptop was torture and just not doing it.

Still have a decent monitor, old mice and keyboard. Have a 9800GTX+ that's new and I never used (burnt out the old computer OC'ing before I could install) that'll do until I have money for a planned 560Ti.

So for right now, just need the bare essentials of a budget gaming rig. I was thinking a minimum 2500 proc - But I don't know too much about motherboards to make a good assesment, or good cost-quality PSU units, or RAM. Like I said, been out of the game for awhile.

Hope this clears some things up!
