CPUTIN is freaking me out

Thread Starter
Hi guys, so I just put together a new build and I'm using CPUID to monitor temps. my CPUTIN is idling at 60C and went up to 127C on a benchmark. This is really freaking me out. My core temps idle around 28C and went up to 40C. I haven't OCd anything yet. Could it be that I don't have a great 'seal' with the thermal paste?

My build:
ASUS Maximus Gene-Z
i5 2500k
ND-14
GTX570HD
tj08-e case
gskillz 2x4GB 1600

There's a 180mm fan on the front pulling air toward the d14 (which has both 120 and 140 fans, which then go right out the back. The air coming out isn't extremely hot. I should install a game and play that for a few hours and see how it does, but those temps on the CPUTIN are really freaking me out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, it's not actually "CPUID". CPUID is the developer. So, it's Hardware Monitor (or "HWMonitor" for short).

Anyway, I recommend Real Temp 3.67.

I'm not sure why but HWMon always shows 0c CPUTIN on my sig box. Go get some Aida64 it's the best.

What a coincidence, I just assembled almost the exact same system and I have the exact same issue!

TJ08-E
i5-2500k
GTX570
ASUS Maximus Genie Z

I think it's just an issue with HWMonitor. I'm going to ignore it. It gets random extreme fan readings too.

Btw, do you know how to check the version of 'AI Suite II' and whether there's a newer version out? And do you have any idea what any of those "tuning" settings do? Not sure whether I should try to tinker with overclocking in the BIOS or with this software

I have avoided Ai Suite II because it applies your settings after Windows has started loading. This kind of overclocking is fine for video cards, but not so much for CPUs.

So, I recommend just not using Ai Suite II.
