First WC attempt. Disaster...redemption?

So, my first attempt at putting together a water cooling system was a pretty epic failure.

After I finally figured out how to mount the rad on my case (HAF 932)..which wasn't that complicated...and finally managed to get everything attached, I ended up with leaks at about half of the connections. I managed to fix most, but no matter what, I could not seem to fix the leak on one of the GPU (Powercolor LCS 6990 with the waterblock) connections. I even took that connection apart, rescrewed everything in, cut a new piece of tubing, clamped it and it still leaked (it looked like it was leaking from where it screws in, not from the tubing). Side note: leak is a bit of an understatement.

So, the gpu got pretty wet. Fortunately I was using the paperclip trick so presumably nothing was damaged.

But...that leads me to believe that it's better to hire someone who has done this before. If this were a crap system, I'd give it another go, but I've invested quite a bit of money into the components for this rig, and I don't want to mess around with water when I don't know what I'm doing.

I don't know if this is allowed -- mods delete this if it's not -- but if anyone in Houston would install this for me, I'd gladly pay. I'll have to order more tubing, because I somehow went through it all in my misguided attempts, so it would need to be Monday or Tuesday evening. Unless, of course, you have decent extra 7/16 tubing (which I'd pay for as well).

Or, on the other hand, if anyone knows of any specialty shops in Houston into which I could bring my stuff and have them install everything, I'd do that as well.

Edit: See later posts.

I don't live there, but out of curiosity, did you use barbs or compression fittings
post #3 of 38
If its leaking where you screw the fitting into the block, check to make sure your rubber washer is still on the fitting.
You only have to screw them in enough to make a seal.
I usually test all my parts outside the rig beforehand and before I install them.

Barbs. Ones that came with the GPU and the kit (rasa 750 rx 360).

Rubber was on. The other GPU fitting was just fine. Only this one gave me repeated problems, and leaked all over the place.

Try replacing the barb with another if you have anymore left. If that doesn't work then I'm guessing the threading on the gpu block is messed up somewhere which is why it's leaking.

Then you either need to tighten the barb more or either the barb or block are badly out of spec. I had no issues with leaks with Rasa kit (cpu). The tubing was so tight I could barely get it on. I feel for you though man!

This is why I'm hoping to find someone to do it rather than keep trying. I don't know enough to diagnose the problem, and I'd rather not keep throwing water all over the place. What a pain that was.
