GTX 580 SLI vs GTX 590 SLI

Thread Starter
Ok so i have been looking into GTX 580 SLI vs GTX 590 and the GTX 580 seems to be the clear winner. My question is should i get GTX 590 in SLI or go with 580 SLI?

I have also heard that GTX 590 has some issues with drivers? Is this true? has any 1 run the 590 in a SLI?

Thanks in advance

There is only 1.5GB of vram with GTX590 sli( four gpus), not enough for the gpu horsepower.

The GTX 580 1.5gb in sli is great for 1920-1200 and lower while GTX 580 3gb versions are great above that resolution.

590 in SLI = quad, you are pitting 4 GPU's against 2 GPU's, the 590's would win by a fair margin...

The above poster is correct though, it is way too much horsepower for 1080p and the measly 1.5gb's of VRAM...

Single monitor = single 590
Triple monitor = Dual 580gb 3gb's or greater

Cheers,
Ishi

For that resolution and gaming needs, a 2600K and two GTX580 3gbs. Also you only need a quality 850w psu to do the job, for eg. a Corsair AX850 850w.

Both would be great for gaming, but if price is no option get the 990x.
For 2560x1600 get 2x 580 3gb or 3 even...

You wouldn't need a 1500w PSU, 1200w would serve you adequately.

Go the 2600k, price/perf remarkably better, also the option of going for the IB die-shrink when that comes out as it will be backwards compatible...

Edit: MrTOOSHORT... you ninja! ninja.gif

Build a 2500k rig for gaming imo. If you are absolutely sure you won't be oc'ing, then you don't need the k, just get a 2500.
