GTX 580 SLI vs GTX 590 SLI - Page 2

Why the overkill? Just one or two 570s would do fine for most games. You also need to know what games you're building it for. A 470s would work great at your res if CSS or TF2 is your game. Otherwise it just screams inefficiency.

If you had to get something, two gtx 580 non ref.

im planing on playing all the newest games at full ress full specs the highest it can go and i dont play CSS and many games that require low spec pc i also wana run games in the future at full specs for a while so over kill is fine as it will be used in a year or so as games develop.

If you don't wanna OC, and budget is no issue, just go for the 990x + 3Gb 580 sli build. You can overclock the CPU when the time comes, but at stock it won't bottleneck those cards in many many scenarios (hopefully ). For high res, the 3Gb 580s help ALOT.

Triple 3gb 580s in SLI would do the trick.

Haha this is all so confusing for a noob like me

So lets say i build this

1 CORE I7 2600K CPU CPU BX80623I72600K
1 GIGA Z68X UD7 B3 M/B Motherb GA-Z68X-UD7-B3
2 GIGA GTX590 3GB B Graphi N590D5-3GD-B
2 120G KINGSTON HYPERX SATA3 2.5 Har SH100S3/120G
1 PIONEER BDR-206BK BLURAYBURNER Optic BDR-206BK
2 2TB WD FAEX BK SATA3 64MB Har WD2002FAEX
1 1200W ANTEC QUATTRO PSU Pow 0-761345-27121-9
2 8G GSKILL 1600 RIPJAWSX CL7 Memo F3-12800CL7D-8GBXH
1 Noctua 140mm FAN/Cooler Cooli NH-D14
1 COOLERMASTER RC-942 HAF CASE Case RC-942-KKN1
1 OPTIONAL LABOUR CHARGE
1 WINDOWS 7 PRO OEM 64BIT SP1 Softw FQC-04725/FQC-04649

Will it be able to run at its best? I know that without over clocking that the ram will run at 1333 unless the CPU its self kicks in the Bost feature and does a slight over clock but appart from that is there anything that will be held back?

Again sorry to be so noob but i wana be sure about the system i am going to build

What controller does that Kingston SSD use? If it's the SF-2281, then I'd switch to either Intel 510 or Crucial M4. I'd also switch those 590s for 3x 3gb 580s if cost is not an issue. If cost is an issue, I'd got with 3x 6970s.

Edit: The reason for switch to 3gb 580s is because you get more vram and quad SLI scales like crap, tri SLI is the better way to go. Also, the reason to avoid SF-2281 controlled SSDs is because they have firmware issues.

So 3 580s are better then 2 590s? Now question is will the system use all that power?

It would have more vram if you go with the 3gb versions of the 580s and tri SLI scales better than quad SLI.

What resolution will you be running and will you be running a multi monitor set up? If you are running a single 1080p monitor than it will not be used. If you are running a surround set up with 3 monitors or a really high resolution single/double monitor set up, then you'll get some use out of it.
